
RESIDENTIAL RETREAT- COST AND GUIDELINES
The Retreats are held at Vasanta Vihar, which was Krishnamurti’s home in India. It has a library (The Study) with a vast collection of Krishnamurti books, audio and video tapes, a guest housewith facilities for stay and food, and a bookstore, all set in an atmosphere of solitude and silence.
The Retreat begins with an introductory programme at 6 p.m. on Friday. Please check in between 2:00 pm and 5.30 pm.
The two-day programme will consist of formal dialogues around a theme, informal conversation, video-screenings of Krishnamurti’s talks and discussions, time for study, reflection, and the silence.
Participants especially those coming from outstation are welcome to stay a few days more, either before or after the Retreat, if they so wish.
The number of participants in the Retreats will berestricted to about 15.Kindly avoid last-minute cancellations and inform us at least 3 days in advance to enable us to accommodate others on our waiting list.
RETREAT FEE: INR 1500
This includes accommodation, food, study material, and use of the library for two days.Payment can be made on arrival or anytime during the course of the retreat.Payment for staying for more days, before or after the Retreat, will be Rs. 750 per day.
GUIDELINES FOR GUESTS
Be punctual for all our programmes and meals—do not keep others waiting.
Single/Double non-AC rooms with attached bath are provided.
You are requested to bring your own towel and soap.
Use cell phones only in your rooms, and not in The Study, Retreat venues, Dining Hall, and other common areas on the campus.
Clothes such as shorts or mini-skirts outside your room are considered inappropriate at Vasanta Vihar.
Do not leave lights, water heaters, and fans on when you are not using them.
Refrain from non-vegetarian food, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs.
STAY ON VASANTA VIHAR CAMPUS - COST AND GUIDELINES
Vasanta Vihar, part of Krishnamurti Trust Madras (headquarters of the Krishnamurti Foundation India), exists for the sole purpose of enabling people to stay here to study Krishnamurti’s Teachings by using the library (The Study), or taking part in retreats and dialogues, or engaging in informal conversations or quiet reflection.Therefore, we expect guests not to use this place for engaging in other activities such as Official/personal work , Work From Home, Sight-seeing & shopping,Yoga & meditation classes, Lectures & seminars, Music concerts & cultural events, Family & social get-togethers.
Your presence on the campus, and punctuality for all meals, are expected.
Laptops / mobile phones should not be used in The Study, Retreat venues, Dining Hall, and other common areas. You may use them only in your room, and that too only for essential work such as booking tickets or taxis.
BOOK YOUR STAY HERE
Guests are expected to stay for at least three nights and not use the place as a transit point for other destinations. Guests can extend their stay if they wish to.

Overseas Guests: Our main gate closes at 10 p.m. and opens only by 5 am. So if you are reaching by a late-night flight, kindly stay at the airport and check in here only after 5 a.m.

Getting Here: Pre-paid taxis/Autorickshaws are available at the airport and railway stations. Ask for Greenways Road (not Greams Road). From airport (south), cross the Adyar Bridge and turn left at Andhra Mahila Sabha Hospital. From the Central and Egmore Railway Stations (north) come via Mylapore and Mandaveli.
